OUR
WORSHIP
The worship of the
East Bristol church of Christ is patterned after the worship
taught in the New Testament. When you visit our services you
will find very simple worship designed by God to give us the
opportunity to express our praise and thanksgiving to Him
and at the same time to encourage and build up each other in
the faith. We are here to worship the Father in spirit and
in truth (John 4:23-24).
Because of this realization, we only offer worship that the
Father authorizes in the New Testament. Therefore, the
worship services every first day of the week consists of the following:
- Singing (Ephesians 5:19;
Colossians 3:16). Since "singing" is the only kind
of music authorized in the New Testament for worship, we do not
use any other kind of music, including humming,
mechanical instruments of music such as a piano, or
any other kind of mechanical or vocal music.
- Prayer (Acts 2:42). We pray to the Father
through Jesus Christ His son (Matthew 6:9; Romans
7:25; Colossians 3:17).
- Partaking of the Lord's Supper (Matthew 26:26-30;
Acts 20:7; 1 Corinthians 11:23-29). We
remember the death, burial, and resurrection of
Jesus Christ each first day of the week.
- Giving (1 Corinthians 16:1-2). We do not tithe but
give as God prospers us.
- Preaching (Acts 20:7). The gospel is
proclaimed and lessons are presented to convict,
encourage and to instruct us in living the Christian
life.

These simple acts of worship are to be
done "in spirit and in truth" (John 4:24). They are
designed by God to give us the opportunity to express our praise
and thanksgiving to Him and at the same time to encourage and
build each other up in the faith.
We invite you to join us in worshiping God the Father in spirit
and in truth. If we can assist you in your study of worship or
any other aspect of the New Testament church, please contact us
at

us.
| "But the hour is coming, and
now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father
in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to
worship Him. God is Spirit, and those who worship Him
must worship in spirit and truth." (John 4:23-24). |
