SALVATION
"What must I do to be saved" (Acts 2:37) is the most important question that any person can ask. Although there are many answers given to this question by different people, the Bible gives the true answer. When one obeys what the Bible teaches, he can be assured of his salvation.

The Bible gives the following examples of how people are saved from their sins.
  • The people on Pentecost Day (Acts 2:37-47).
  • The Ethiopian Official (Acts 8:26-40).
  • Saul (Acts 9:10-18; 22:16).
  • Cornelius and his household (Acts 10:1-48).
  • Lydia (Acts 16:11-15).
  • The Jailor (Acts 16:25-34).
  • The Corinthians (Acts 18:1-8).
  • The Ephesians (Acts 19:1-5).
Jesus taught concerning what one must do to be saved while He was living on this earth (Matthew 10:32-33; 28:18-20; Mark 16:15-16; Luke 13:3, 5).

The apostles also addressed this question in their letters (Romans 6:1-4; 10:9-10, 17; Colossians 2:12-13; Galatians 3:26-27; 1 Peter 3:21).

When one reads all of the passages listed above, he will understand that God's plan of salvation requires one to:
  • Hear the gospel (Romans 10:17; Matthew 7:24-27).
  • Believe the gospel (Mark 16:15-16; Hebrews 11:6).
  • Repent of sins (Acts 2:38; 17:30; Luke 13:3).
  • Confess Christ (Matthew 10:32-33; Acts 8:36-37; Romans 10:9-10).
  • Be baptized (buried in water) for the remission of sins (Mark 16:16; Luke 7:30; John 3:5; Acts 2:38; 10:48; 22:16; 1 Peter 3:21; Romans 6:1-6; Colossians 2:12). When one does this, he is added to the church of Christ (the church you read about in the New Testament) by the Lord Himself (Acts 2:47; Matthew 16:18).  He becomes a new creation (2 Corinthians 5:17). He becomes a citizen of the kingdom of Christ (Matthew 16:13-20).
  • Live faithfully  (Revelation 2:10).
